Teresa Lashmet - First Lady Police Officer in Miami in 30 years

The determination and hard work of the lady Police officer Teresa Lashmet to help and serve the people is noticeable. She is the first female police officer in Miami in almost 30 years. She is confident and capable for this job which has been an inspiration to many.

How Teresa Lashmet’s Became a Police Officer

The strong family background of Teresa Lashmet in law enforcement made a great impact on her which led to her interests in becoming a police officer. Even her cousins and an uncle have been in Missouri Highway Patrol. So, in 2010, she completed her training of CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training) to become a police officer. For three years, she worked in parking control and dispatch departments in Carthage, Mo. After that, she took a job at Buffalo Run Casino with the security department in 2011.
Teresa Lashmet was selected in the Miami Police Department, as they scored the best and passed all tests with good marks. Teresa excelled dramatically and did exceptionally well as said by Chief of Police George Haralson. She does her job really well. She is a responsible police officer and worked very hard.
Lashmet has always been passionate about the job of patrolling. She has set a good example for the people, especially women. It was never easy for her to be the only girl in the police department. She still remembers her first day when Teresa Lashmet had to drive the car alone for patrolling and it was an evening shift. She has always been a physically very strong person. Her training and experience as a bouncer at Buffalo Run has helped in her career.
Teresa Lashmet has undergone various crucial training session for her job. There was a training in which a taser hit was involved. However, Lashmet was bold and strong enough to bear this. When she was asked about the behavior of other officers in the department, she replied that she always got a good treatment from them. She said, that there were many officers who did not talk to her much, but the environment was good overall. The officers always encouraged her. Teresa Lashmet wanted to help people and especially the kids. She had closely seen domestic violence on her mother’s side. Hence, she had a soft corner for such situations.

Teresa Lashmet’s Personal Life

Talking about her personal life, Teresa Lashmet has four children, a son and three daughters. The children have always found their mother as a strict and disciplines mom. Even her son wants to be a police officer like her. In her dream of becoming a police officer, her family supported her a lot. Her husband and her mother have played an important role in supporting her for her career.

There has been only one lady police officer before Lashmet- Janella Ruffner Spurlock. She was into law enforcement for 22 years. After which, Teresa became the next. The times were harder for Spurlock, however, the conditions were better for Teresa. However, Spurlock was really passionate and loved to serve her people. She loved Miami. Likewise, Teresa Lashmet also loves her nation and her Miami. This is proved by the hard work she does. We expect more from you Teresa!
